Role of Media in Resolving conflicts

The Media is an integral part of every nation's social, political, technological and economic prosperity. To split the media's role from a nation's achievements is next to impossible. It's influence on our lives is very profound. However, it is no secret that the media, while trying to go into the details of any problem, often ends up messing things to a great extent by being too speculative or over-reactive. Such a reporting castes a negative spell in the minds of the general public which relies on the media reports for authenticity and believes it to be so.
Almost every sane individual, educated or not, starts his day either reading newspaper or watching television news channels or at least listening to radio news even if he is on wheels. People get attracted/attached sentimentally and emotionally to the news items that are more relevant to their circumstances. Such is the persuasive power of the media on our lives.

Therefore the media should adopt the policy of reporting with fairness and accuracy. Consciously or sub-consciously, there should be no exaggeration, bias and speculation. Such measures will be a big boost to the task of Resolving Conflicts and bringing back peace to this beautiful world.
