My Lash Routine & Curling Tips

My eyelashes are a hot topic with my family and friends because they are so long, I find myself answering "Are your eyelashes real" numerous times a week. Yes they are real and here are some tips on how to get longer looking lashes!

1. Find the perfect eyelash curler

Everybody has different eye shapes and there are different eyelashes curlers to suit them so you may have to shop around a little but I use a plain and trusty e.l.f curler. A good eyelash curler can last you a long time and I've had mine for about 4 years now and it is still going strong. It has a more curved shaped that manages to grab my lashes.

2. Find the perfect mascara

Is there such a thing called finding the right mascara? Yes, there is, you may want your lashes to be lengthened, defined, volumized, waterproof, oil-free, so many more preferences. For me, I prefer volumized mascara since I already have the length. I recently switched to L'Oreal's Lash Paradise and it is amazing!! I also love Maybelline Falsies that was the first ever mascara I used years ago and I still buy it to this day.

Have I had mascaras that didn't work for me? Plenty but don't give up hope.

3. Do you need a heated eyelash curler?

Haven't heard of a heated eyelash curler? It's basically straighteners for your lashes. The best way to use a heated lash curler is after the first coat of mascara that you let dry. The heat melts the mascara and allows to you bend and manipulate the way you want your lashes to look. You just need to let your lashes cool and if you want to apply another coat of mascara like I do go ahead. Your lashes will stay put all day long.

*Note* I actually cheat with this step, as you can see in my routine below. I don't use a heated curler anymore, I use a hairdryer ;)

My Lash Routine:

Step 1 - Curl your eyelashes with the eyelash curler
Step 2 - Apply the first layer of mascara and let dry
Step 3 - Using a hairdryer, heat the eyelash curler for a few seconds, apply to your eyelashes upwards toward your eyelid, hold for a few seconds and release
Step 4 - Apply the 2nd layer of mascara and Taa dah! they will not budge.
