Apartment Gardening: Mysterious Carnivorous Plant Babies

The most curious of things has happened! I didn't write about it here but if you follow me on instagram you'll have seen that I discovered a baby Venus Flytrap in one of my lovely Cape Sundews. Then a couple of weeks later I found two Baby Sundews in there too! Madly excitable about this obviously :)

A rare surprisingly good photo from my phone!

So I plucked up the courage and re-potted them, I took it a bit like a surgical procedure but it went great :)

Re-homed and happy!

There was a hiccup with a delivery of their de-ironised water but all was good in the end.

So last night I was watering all my Carnivorous Plants - which I do at least every other day - and I noticed more babies! Except, most aren't babies they're the same size as the originals! How could I not have noticed?! Total mystery.

I have lots of buds (even on one of the baby Sundews in the above pic which is a few days old now) but there's been no flowers yet, so I have to assume that the seeds were already in the pots when I got the plants. I still don't understand how I've only just noticed the growth though, I'm pretty much obsessed by these feasters.

Please excuse the cat hair! This is my Sundew Hybrid. Or so I thought! There's actually four of them in there. Four! I wasn't terribly pleased with the customer service from the place that I bought these from but Hello! Looks like I got several lovely bargains :)

This one was the first of last nights surprises and the biggest one of all. This is Sunny, my original Cape Sundew. Well, Sunny and Sunny! I'm absolutely mystified as to how this could have happened without me noticing. I check him several times a day due to him being the first to get buds and I've been waiting for weeks to catch a glimpse (hopefully!) of a flower. Now there's two of a very similar size.

Have I manifested more Carnivorous Plants without trying?! I do absolutely love them and there's no doubt that I've said I would like an apartment full.

Regardless of how they got here or when, I'm very happy to have them!
