8 Easy Ways To Motivate Yourself and Kick-Start The Day

“The only thing standing between you and your goal is the bullshit story you keep telling yourself as to why you can’t achieve it. Motivate yourself and go behind it.” – Jordan Belfort

It’s been over a couple of months, I’ve been doing wonderfully in my studies as well as being able to spend a plentiful amount of time to update this blog.

All it happens because there are so many small activities that buttress me and motivate me to get more out of the day.

These activities are not at all time-consuming. In fact, if you perform the same, you will be relaxed, able to motivate yourself and can recharge your lost energy.

Listed below are the eight easy ways to motivate yourself and kick-start the day. At first, you can pick up one or two. Perform them and develop them into your habits and then work on the rest.

1. If you really want to motivate yourself, this activity is compulsory

Alright, you’ve to sit and meditate.

I don’t know why people cannot understand that the choices and the decisions they take day-to-day in their life are the product of how good they feel and what kind of thought-process their mind is following at the present moment.

And meditation brings the Motivation, peace, and calmness that your soul and heart is searching for.

I know you’ve already read about it a many time before.

But what is the use of the information if we fail to apply it in our life? Don’t confuse information with knowledge, as Albert Einstein says, the only source of knowledge is the experience. You need the experience to get wisdom.

And now don’t tell me that it’s a big deal for you to sit for ten minutes and meditate. We always have a choice to choose the good if we really want to make ourselves better.

2. Accept the first 20 minutes

“When you look at people who are successful, you will find that they aren’t the people who are motivated, but have consistency in their motivation,” says Arsene Wenger

Accept that the first 20 minutes of your work is going to be difficult.

Long time back, I figured out that the first 20 minutes has always been uncomfortable for me when I sit for my studies or while I start writing a new blog.

If I’m able to focus in those minutes, my mind adopts this behavior, raise my motivation levels and allow me to go with the flow.

Every morning, after doing meditation, I immediately pick up my books and study. I set a timer for 35 minutes on my mobile and allow myself to adopt the routine.

Remember, self-discipline is to do the work even when you are not feeling like doing it.

3. Provoke Yourself

Stephen King, an American author, once said, “Amateurs sit and wait for the inspiration or motivation, the rest of us just get up and go to work.”

If you read the above lines continuously throughout the day, you’ll be amazed to see that you don’t have to wait for someone to come and motivate you.

Now, whenever you lose motivation, ask yourself, “Am I an amateur who wants motivation to go to work?”

I’m sure this question will provoke you to catch up the necessary motivation.

4. Social media ruins the motivation

Social media prompts anxiety and can make you lose the motivation. If it is the first thing that you do right after waking up, you are allowing it to steal your peace of mind and motivation.

I hardly use social media for 20 minutes a day and I rarely care what’s happening in the life of others. A brilliant lesson I’ve ever learned is, “Mind your own business,” turned my life all around.

You don’t have to care what your Facebook and Instagram friends are sharing. The sooner you bring all the attention to your own life and work, the sooner you will boost the motivation and take actions towards making yourself better.

Two steps you can do right now to forbid distractions:

  • Uninstall all the time-consuming apps or the apps that drain your motivation.
  • Install Off Time. (This app will restrict the notifications, messages and block all the distraction. Less distraction means more motivation.)

5. Play Music

Music has the power to heal your mood and ignite your imagination. It’s a magic which gives flight to heart and soul. There is nothing in the world that can take place the beauty of art.

If you’re feeling low and want some inspiration, listen to this motivational video. The combination of music and the voice of the vlogger will uplift your mood.

6. Ask Questions

I found that questions work in a more efficient way than the statements.

Quite frankly, you don’t have to order your mind to get the maximum out of the day. What you need is to ask enlightening questions.

Asking questions makes me more productive and allow me to absorb more into the life.

Here are the five questions that I continuously ask myself throughout the day:

  1. What distractions will I no longer tolerate in my life?
  2. What am I doing right now will make sense tomorrow or in a long run?
  3. As a lifelong learner, am I investing my time in educating myself?
  4. What is that one thing makes me happy and I always want to do if I’m financially independent?
  5. Is my mind calm and peaceful?

7. Take a few minutes to plan and use the timer

Before sleeping at night, plan out your next morning.

Write down the activities or what I call ‘one-hour-morning’ you are going to follow the next day.

The first hour of my morning looks like this:

  1. A short walk to a tea shop nearby my room to connect with nature – 10 minutes
  2. Brush – 5 minutes (Read here why I use timer while brushing my teeth)
  3. Meditation – 15 minutes
  4. Breakfast – 15 minutes
  5. Stretching – 8 minutes
  6. Journaling or reviewing my goals – 10 minutes

Get on the work. As mentioned earlier, focus for first 20 minutes and get into the flow.

If I’m following my morning according to the aforesaid list, I’m indicating my mind that I’m sincere and discipline towards my work and life.

You’ve to start with small task first. If you achieve them, your subconscious mind feels a sense of pride in you and naturally, you’ll be prompted towards a big goal.

8. Skipping Rope

After every hour of focused work, I take a little break and skip rope.

Skipping rope pumps the blood from toe to your brain and it demands the coordination, rhythm and a right approach of both mind and hands. Therefore, it’s good for your brain, energized you and motivate you too.

It’s fun to skip the rope a hundred times with a smile on face. Moreover, this exercise requires less space and no machine, so you don’t have to tie your shoes to go out.

I’ve been doing it for years and I love skipping rope so much that I’m able to manage the trick side swing crossover.

Do you love exercise? What is the best exercise do you think that makes you feel more energized or motivate you? Share with me in the comments below. I’ll surely give it a try.
