None of This Is Okay

So I think we’re closing in on 3 weeks of being home. I have to double check the day each morning, without our usual schedule. As of last week, only one of us is actually leaving the house to work, and that’s the older Daughter. I was laid off from my job almost 2 weeks ago, and it’s going to be a minimum of another 10-15 days before they can reopen. If they reopen. Our governor refuses to issue a stay at home order because South Carolina is different from all those other states, damn it!

We have states without enough ventilators. We have nurses and doctors without enough masks. And we have a president who says he’s not responsible for any of it and says it’s not the federal government’s responsibility. I guess we should be happy that he gave up on the idea of packing the churches for Easter. And there are still people saying that COVID-19 is just like the flu.

We’re okay. Financially, it hurts, being laid off and having tenants that aren’t paying rent, but we’re better off than so many. I’ve become an expert at coloring pictures. I’ve read books. I pulled out the cross-stitch that I haven’t worked on in literally years. Someone’s getting a really pretty angel for Christmas this year! I won’t pretend that I’m homeschooling our daughter because she’s a high school junior and mostly has it under control. I always said that I could never homeschool my kids, so thank goodness this waited until I didn’t have to, lol.

But I’m telling you, if the Booze Pops truck came through my neighborhood instead of the traditional ice cream truck, there would be a mad dash of parents to buy them out.
