I’ve screamed into the street
the middle of the day
the middle of the night
with no reaction from those.
I’ve had to run to houses
make noise and shout
get help from people
when they should come to me
offer and care
but I’m begging for assistance,
pleading for pleasantries
and no one is coming
and no one cares
but it doesn’t really matter
if he bleeds into the pavement right then and there.

Not in the long run.
