Appreciating 3d as a practice

I think art school did the most to get me to actually appreciate 3d when it comes to studying it. In class, I had to think about Putting together solid forms without attributing them to other objects, essentially making shapes for no reason other than to see them. This is why being playful with shape language is one of the bigger things that is used to determine what stuff looks like when I’m putting thing together in 3d cad and sculpting programs today in the world of game content.

The image below is showing a 3 part series of items that come together as a little machine of sorts. They are called Mechanical Parts A, B, and C. Since I did not grow up doing 3d, it wasn’t a regular discipline of mine until this game continued to force me to make stuff with 3d. Now that it’s an everyday Practice, me respecting it has caught up and now I’m putting more time into giving enough detail to all the world and character stuff with these models.
