SLEEPING BEAUTY COMES TO WAKEYLAND | THEATRE ROYAL WAKEFIELD | AD

Step into a world of enchantment and laughter as the TheatreRoyal Wakefield proudly presents this year's spellbinding pantomime, SleepingBeauty. As a dad, I can't help but share my excitement about this extraordinary adaptation of the timeless fairytale classic, which is set to grace the stage from Tuesday, November 28th, to Sunday, January 7th.

Imagine the thrill of watching the curtain rise and being swept away into a whirlwind of hilarity and magic, all with a delightful local twist. The brilliant script, crafted by none other than children's TV favorite and beloved Pantomime Dame, Chris Hannon, promises an unforgettable experience for the whole family.

This marks Chris's twelfth year on stage, and he's joined by the talented Sam Nixon, a singer and double BAFTA award-winning TV presenter, making his fourth appearance at Theatre Royal Wakefield. Together, they'll infuse the show with festive fun, supported by a stellar cast and a vibrant young people's chorus. It's no wonder that last year, a staggering 26,500 delighted audience members were captivated by the magic, belly laughs, and outrageously fabulous outfits that our pantomime is renowned for.

Set in the heart of Wakeyland, the story unfolds with the joyous arrival of a baby princess, announced by none other than Old King Cole. However, the festivities take a dramatic turn when the mischievous fairy Nocturna decides to cast a terrible curse upon the child. The King, consumed by fear for his daughter's life, sets the stage for a gripping tale of love, magic, and redemption.

What makes this production even more special is its interactive elements. Brace yourselves for a truly immersive experience where the audience is encouraged to participate, engaging in lively banter and eagerly anticipating the much-loved "Twelve Days of Christmas," a highlight of our annual tradition.

Katie Town, the Executive Director of Theatre Royal Wakefield, shares our enthusiasm: "The pantomime is our most popular performance of the year. It has become a firm favorite with families of all ages. This year is set to be no exception." With Chris, Sam, our talented performers, and the vibrant young people's chorus, Sleeping Beauty promises to be a classic yet unique experience, blending tradition with a touch of local charm, ensuring it resonates deeply with our cherished audience.
