Help Your Tech Last Longer #CP

Investing in technology is something that most of us deem necessary. From the TVs we use to watch our favourite shows to the laptops we use when working from home and the smartphones we use to keep in touch, play games and pretty much run our lives for us, we all have and need an umber of devices to make life go as smoothly as possible.

One of the most frustrating things about our reliance on them is not only the initial expense of investing in them but also the fact that many of the devices e use will seem to break down after a year or two, requiring us to buy another one.

The good news is, it doesn't have to be that way! There are several things that you can do to help your tech last longer, so let’s take a look at some of them now:

Keep them cool

If you hear very loud fan noise coming from your MacBook, laptop or video game console, it is a sign that the device may be overheating. This is never a good thing because the hotter the device gets the harder it has to work and the more likely it is that various components will become irreversibly damaged.

You can keep your device cool by closing any unnecessary applications, and where possible turning it off. If that is not possible, using an indoor fan to cool the device may also help, but minimising the number of processes it is using is definitely the best way to help it cool down and Extend its life.

Don’t let them run out of juice

If you want to extend the life of your device’s Battery, then one thing you can do is avoid letting the battery run right down to zero. When you do this, you use a full battery cycle, and thst means that it will not charge up to 100 percent as effective as many times in the future. Ideally, you should charge your battery when it has between 40 and 60 percent battery charge left, and unplug it as soon as it reached 100 percent but if that is not possible, just focus on not letting it die completely.

Use the approved charger

You should also try to use the approved charger for your brand of device. Other chargers may fit your device and charge it up, but they may not have the optimum voltage for your device, which means they could cause it to fail sooner. So, although the approved chargers may be more expensive, they are worth the extra expense because they will extend the life of your device, To buy a cheaper charger is a false economy.

Don’t eat and drink around them

It can be tempting to eat and drink at your desk where your computer is sitting all vulnerable, but it is a bad idea to do so. Crumbs can get under keys and cause them to stick or worse, and liquid, well you know what can happen when a device gets wet., Even if it has some water resistance, it’s always better to avoid contact with liquids just in case because when water and electronics get together, bad things can and do happen.

Implement those updates

It can be annoying when your phone wants you to install various updates and you are using it, so you naturally do not want to have to reboot, but when an update is available, you really should take the time to install it as soon as possible, Why? Because those updates often come with improved security for your device as well as fixes for various bugs that could render it useless. Is it really worth five more minutes with Candy Crush if it means a phone that is vulnerable?

Invest in a really good case

For portable tech like phones and tablets, investing in a hard-wearing case that has been proven to protect devices to a decent degree is a must. Screen protectors are also vital if you don’t want to end up with a screen that is cracked and unusual. Accidents will happen, so you need to do what you can to protect against them as best you can and a good case and screen protector will really help with that.

As you can see, it is totally possible to extend the life of your technology, and if you want to save money and ensure that the devices you rely on are there when you need them, you should probably implement them into your life right now.
