#37 Greek Island Adventure – Corfu I

Kalimera my awesome readers!

Kalimera in Greek is “good morning”

Let’s begin with basics. The airport is tiny and located in the main town Corfu/Kerkyra about 15 minutes by walk from magnificent city centre. Corfu is where you get a proper Greek experience. By that I mean that you’ll see rich & beautiful parts of Kerkyra & if you’re staying in different city – you’ll see poor areas as well. I walked a lot with my bestie so we also realised that in smaller villages there are no pavements. You  actually has to walk on the road and be super careful of crazy drivers and tour buses. We thought of renting a car but we don’t have enough experience & it was a little bit scary for us.

We stayed in Summertime Hotel in Sidari. It’s nothing luxurious, we didn’t want to sit all day at the hotel. We also chose all inclusive package as it was convenient for us to save the time for exploring the island. Sidari is quite big comparing to other villages and honestly, you only need 2-3 hours to see the whole city. I’m not joking, hahah There are mainly hotels, lots of local restaurants & souvenir shops. It’s funny that it was easier to communicate in Polish than Greek. Sidari has got its charm with beautiful picturesque spots. Only two minutes from the hotel, I had small Apotripi Beach but it was always so crowded that I preferred to stay somewhere else. Now when I think about the next beautiful spots, I’m happy that I went to Corfu by the end of the season. The weather was always sunny with some clouds & over 25 Celsius. Thus, I could enjoy the island without huge crowds.

Then, around 3 minutes from the hotel we had the famous Canal D’Amour! The view was breathtaking, the water so clear & turquoise all surrounded by shiny, yellow cliffs. I fell in love with that place & could sit there whole day just listening to the calming waves & looking at it. Well, I know I’d get bored of it after a month or so but still – it’s probably the best view in Corfu (as well as 2 beaches in Palaiokastritsa!) Then, there’re more cliffs & the main Sidari beach with tiny port. It’s worth mentioning that around 45 minutes from Sidari, there’s Kassiopi which is the closest point to the Albania on the mainland! I wanted to go for a day trip to Kassiopi but in the end it’s too small to spend there a whole day.

Sidari is great if you want to have relaxing holiday but also a lot of adventures. I’m going to write a separate post about the trips that I’ve made with my bestie – day trip to Albania & bus trip around the island. Meanwhile, feel free to ask me any questions on Instagram, either in comments or directly.

Antio!
