When it all comes clear .....

So there are some things that just make ya crazy.

Today (well, for more accurately for the past 6 days) I tried to do a favor for Pop in law. He has/had a chair he wanted to give away and he’s been harassing me about for days about using me and my truck to Deliver it.

Friday:
Him: Are you available to deliver it tonight?
Me: Yes, just tell me when
Him (after a 2 hours delay): Never mind, I couldn’t reach her

Saturday:
Him: We can deliver it today, I’ll call in a bit to tell you when
Me: OK
Him (5 hours later, calls Queenie instead): She said she’d be around but won’t return my calls. Tell X never mind.

And actually I did never mind, I went about my business like it would happen this way.

Sunday:
Him (calls Queenie again, inexplicably): We’ll deliver it right after church
Queenie: Sure, after church is fine
Me: Nope, Mothers day and we have plans. We can deliver it after 5
Queenie: Oh, but we can make time after church
Me: No, we’re leaving church early because the daughters need to work
Queenie: But this is for Dad, it’s important
Me: It’s mothers day, we have plans. And it’s not important to him, not after 3 days of yutzing
Queenie: Fine
Me: Fine

Monday:
Him (again to Queenie): Tonight?
Queenie: Yes!
Me: No, work has me
Him: We have to get this done
Me: ?????

Tuesday:
Nothing

Wednesday:
Him (trying to call Queenie, but I got the phone first): How about later tonight? We can do it any time we want so we have no need to hurry
Me: In 30 minutes or not at all
Him: Oh, OK. Pick me up then, I’m at hospice.
Queenie: That was rude!
Me: Yep

So I pick up Pops and in the under 3 mile trip he tries to tell me the ‘best’ way to go 4 times and gives me general driving instructions twice. Chides me for covering the chair with a  tarp as it’s not raining. It was raining for all but the last mile of our trip, so I ignore him. It’s an electric recliner Pops …..

It starts raining just as we pull out of the parking lot. He gives me 3 more mis-directions on the way back that I amuse myself by taking, followed by a couple u-turns when they go South. Finally get there and no one is home. He wants to take the chair back home and try again some other day. Nope, nice dry front porch there, it’s getting delivered. Found out after that he’d actually never even called to see if tonight would work. Drive him back to hospice, gives another mis-direction.

Some folk never learn but sure want to be in charge ……

This is how our entire Colorado trip went a couple years back. With Queenie trying to back him up. You know, the respecting your elders shtick. Hate that sometimes.

(These same habits were once Queenie's. Most of the time now she suppresses them, but not always. Train up a child in the way he should go and all of that)
