For Once in your life Have Some Dignity

Sure, but you better believed I won't be doing it in a Dignified manner. It just isn't in me, ya know?

I find that application of dignity is rather uneven depending on the audience. My favorite odd example had to do with a moment of accidental nudity where the unfortunate party insisted that he had lost his dignity. permanently. Um, but only in my and one other persons company if you can believe that. It is someone I see with regularity and after decades he still acts awkward in my presence. I've taken his dignity but just can't figure out where I misplaced it so I can return it.

Our retired Pastor was one who was huge about acting in a dignified manner. Some of the work we did in the drama team caused him to squirm a bit because sometimes, you know, life and situations are less than dignified and so it was with re-enacting some life situations. He and I had many long interesting discussions on just how appropriate undignification was and to what degree.

My personal dignity has suffered, on occasion, but every time due to someone in a position of power choosing to abuse said power.

On the other hand I am not at all dignified. I can be, I have been, but most often I choose to be less than. It's a lot easier for me to manage in this life if I can keep it real. Acting dignified can get in the way particularly in one who has socialization issues to begin with.
