The Schlagerboys are quite impressed with Ireland's Eurovision song for 2015. While Nicky was never our favourite Westlife (Shane and floppy-hair-era-Bryan), he always turned up and more to the point never yawned on stage which was quite a feat considering he spent 10 years not really needing to be there.
"Sunlight" is a decent pop song with a traditional slow beginning building up to a double chorus. The second chorus includes a fab gay reference - "Touch who you wanna / Kiss who you gotta" which gives us a great couple of lines to yell at each other in the Euroclub over our vodka and diet cokes. There's also a great bit near the end where Nicky sings "I'll be your loverboy" which is clearly meant to be "I'll be your Schlagerboy".
Douze points to Ireland for giving us their best entry in years. We can't remember the last time we really liked an Irish entry... it might even be "Always Over Now" in 1998! And thank you for not making sit through a three hour pointless National Final on a Friday night just to end up with this song over four dull ballads. This is a MUCH better way to come up with Nicky Westlife for Eurovision! Hurrah!
