The Sounds of Revival

Anything Em spits on is ill. That is it. Revival is definitely different, and as a super duper uber Eminem Stan myself, the sounds on Revival really pushed me into the space of really almost saying I didn't like the sound of the album and didn't expect that and really thought Em pushed his core following to the edge of almost not accepting the album. I don't know, I love anything Em puts out, but I thought the album would have been better sonically.I hear some different trends in the album. Framed, sounds a lot like a Relapse/Slim Shady LP vibe. The cadence, sound, voice tone and overall theme of the track reminds me of Relapse and the shit he was saying on Slim Shady Lp. Castle and Arose really remind me of Recovery. The voice, tone, constant beat, lyrics, has Recovery all over it.However, the following tracks give me the vibe of Love the Way You Lie such as River, Bad Husband, Remind Me, Tragic Endings, Nowhere Fast, Need Me all have this Love the Way You Lie vibe to them. With Untouchables, Offended and Like Home, you get political trends and sounds and vibes from Em. However, it just doesn't feel like Eminem to me. Looking back at White America, Square Dance, Mosh, Rap Game, Public Enemy #1 and tens of other records with verses where he verbally slaughters politicians, I didn't get that vibe here, he made a couple of jabs and funny jokes, but nothing really going hard at something he should of lyrically slaughtered. I felt the rage on The Storm BET Freestyle, but saw none of that on Revival. With all of these different sounds, I really felt Revival didn't have a consistent sound or theme, which I feel is the main reason fans are having a hard time understanding.I think The Storm freestyle gave an expectation that we would be lyrically slaughtering Trump. I think the whole Revival marketing campaign as a drug to heal Atrox Rithimus, gave this sort of feel that he would sonically and lyrically have a theme where he was talking about that and have that medication type theme, also, just the expectation that when Em is on a record he murders shit, I just don't feel he is murdering shit at all. It sucks. I mean from Despicable Me freestyle, No Love joint, Drop the World, Forever verse, Renegade verse, I mean just to name a few where you leave every single record like Holy Shit nobody can fuck with Em, it sucks but though I give Em the respect he deserves with masterpieces such as Slim Shady LP, Marshall Mathers LP, Eminem Show LP, Encore LP, Relapse, Recovery, MMLP2, Bad Meets Evil, the Reup, 8 Mile soundtrack, etc.... he missed it on Revival. The only record that I leave like "Dayuuum" is Castle, because its a great song and sounding joint, I leave like damn, that hit home being a dad, otherwise, I have to force myself to try other records and it's not working.I love Em, he's my all time favorite alongside 50 Cent, and I personally think he is the best rapper or MC or whatever you want to call it of all time, I just feel he missed on Revival, and hope it's not his last one.See More
