Original piece can be seen along with video interview here.

Earlier this year i-D online caught-up with a fresh-faced young chap going by the name of Wretch 32, who was eager to make his mark on the mainstream just like he did with the underground.

Within a few months Wretch put his foot to the pedal and shot full steam ahead, leading the charts with his own brand of authentic music. His first official single ‘Traktor’ took him straight into the top five, and his ‘Unorthodox’ collaboration proved he wasn’t just a flash in the pan. As the pace quickened, with his third single ‘Don’t Go’ – a love letter to his one and only, music – he showed the world how gifted he really is, bagging his first number one. The Tottenham born artist’s smooth, relaxed approach has attracted many new fans but his venom lies in his word play – which has seen him sustain as well as gain vigorous support from the two united scenes that birthed him; UK hip-hop and grime. His new album Black and White features a host of raw homegrown musical magic including Daley and Etta Bond as well as some better known talent such as Ed Sheeran and Chipmunk, all up in the mix. With the introduction done it’s time to take a ride with the man of the moment – Mr Wretch 32…
