Hot 100: Doja Cat Hits #1 as ‘Paint The Town Red’ Becomes First Rap Chart-Topper in Over a Year

Doja Cat has been heating up the scene with her new single ‘Paint The Town Red’ and today has seen its success reach a fever pitch. For, the track has just reached the apex of the Billboard Hot 100.

Full story below…

Moments ago, it was revealed that the catchy cut – which samples Dionne Warwick’s ‘Walk on By’ – shot to #1 on the coveted count.

Lifted from Doja’s forthcoming album ‘Scarlet’ (due September 22), the track now serves as the second Hot 100 #1 of her career, joining the Nicki Minaj-assisted incarnation of 2020’s ‘Say So.’

The Minaj connection is furthered by the fact that ‘Paint The Town Red’ is the first Rap song to top the overall tally since the femcee’s ‘Super Freaky Girl’ ascended to pole position in August 2022.

So, how did the song pull off the feat?

In the latest tracking week, ‘Red’ racked up the following US stats:

  • 32.1 million radio airplay audience
  • 27.7 million streams
  • 8,000 downloads

‘Red’ is joined on the ‘Scarlet’ LP by buzz cuts ‘Attention’ and ‘Demon.’
