I'm a fan of the Wheel of Time Series -- 15 books and now a TV series that has just finished its second season. One of the major non-human characters in both series is the Horn of Valere, a short golden horn which, when blown in the heat of battle, calls forth the Heroes of the Horn to join in the battle on the side of whoever blew it. At one point on a discussion forum I made a facetious comment that the Horn of Valere should have been a euphonium. One of the people who *liked* the comment was Dónal Flynn, the young actor playing the character who blew the horn in the Season 2 finale.
