I've recently developed on/off Pain in my left jaw that feels like a tooth problem. Visited my dentist and he ruled that out with X-rays and lots of questions. He suspects it's my euphonium playing, which I admit has been more intense since we started rehearsals for our fall concert. Lots of challenging pieces with fast passages and high register work. He described the muscle and nerve structure in the jaw that can be susceptible to tension, air pressure, and just physical work. It feels like a terrible tooth ache when it flares up. Right now I'm depending on ibuprofen and making sure I'm as relaxed as I can be. Does this sound familiar to any of you?
