More than four decades since its original release, Gloria Gaynor‘s iconic dance anthem “I Will Survive” receives the ultimate 2020 remix treatment.

Taken on by master craftsman, Eric Kupper, the 1978 classic has been given new life courtesy of the original vocals and instrumentation that have been refreshed in response to the Corona Virus pandemic. Courtesy of Universal Music, the 2020 rework finds Gaynor’s lyrics looped and echoed throughout the track for a contemporary dance production twist. While the initial club standard remains infectious on its own, Kupper’s refreshed edition will appeal to the songs initial fans as well as attract a whole new audience.

What was initially the ‘B Side’ of a Polydor Records 45rpm vinyl (with “Substitute” on the flip) the Dino Fekaris / Freddie Perren written and produced classic was an ode to the broken hearted, jolted and forsaken by their former paramour. And forty plus years since its original release the single has since become a worldwide anthem championed by women and the LGBTQ community alike.

Over time”I Will Survive” has taken on several different meanings, most recently a musical answer to the current COVID-19 pandemic. Watch the campaign clip below.
