Khalid has been a non-stop music-making machine these past few months after having his debut album American Teen take over. Since then he has done songs with the likes of Ty Dolla $ign, 6LACK and Billie Eilish.

His newest collaboration features Shawn Mendes. “Youth,” turns heartbreak into strength through lyrics like, “You can’t take my youth away/This soul of mine will never break/As long as I wake up today/You can’t take my youth away.” The song is solemn with Khalid and Mendes trading lyrics over the sound of an acoustic guitar, but soon blossoms into a shuffling pop track.

Mendes and Khalid co-wrote “Youth” with Scott Harris, Geoff Warburton and Teddy Geiger. Mendes produced the track alongside Joel Little.
