Chloe Kim Wins Gold Medal While Listening to Migos, Lady Gaga

Chloe Kim made history yesterday at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, when she became the youngest woman to ever win a gold medal in snowboarding.

The 17-year-old Californian athlete won with a final score of 98.25, after her first lap (which scored 93.75) had already placed her above the rest of the competition. Viewers at home may have noticed that Kim plugged in earbuds before each of her runs; according to ESPN, she was listening to Migos and Lady Gaga.

Kim told ESPN that she remembers her first run was soundtracked by Gaga’s “Paparazzi,” while her victory lap run was completed to “MotorSport,” featuring Cardi B and Nicki Minaj.

Kim plugged in her music—she said she thinks she was listening to “MotorSport” on that run, “Paparazzi” on her first—dropped in, launched a sky-high method, and then stomped back-to-back 1080s, making her the first woman to do so in Olympic competition. She didn’t score a 100, but her 98.25 beat her previous score, which was what she was aiming to do all along.
