Eminem is teasing a music video for “River,” featuring Ed Sheeran.
On Instagram, Em shared a still photo from the video set. “So let the river run…” the rapper wrote, quoting Sheeran’s verse on the song. It’s unclear when the video will drop but for now, fans have something to look forward to.
Sheeran has called the collaboration “the highlight of [his] career.” In his epic Vulture interview, the real Slim Shady defended working with Sheeran despite his past dismissals of pop artists: “He’s not a boy band, he’s an artist whose craft I respect.”
“River” has actually been rising on the charts, driven largely by its Sheeran-sung hook. It landed at no. 45 just last week, and the upcoming music video is likely to boost that position even further. Sheeran previously broke down how the unlikely collaboration came to be, saying, “My mate Emile, who produces a lot for Eminem is like, ‘Oh, I’ve done some drums and stuff on the “River” song that you wrote.’ I was like, ‘Oh, cool. Are you gonna send it to him?’” Now, he may be the factor most responsible for redeeming Eminem’s latest effort — at least commercially.
