Sia is celebrating Christmas early. Today Friday (Nov. 17), the wigged singer-songwriter unveiled her first holiday album, Everyday Is Christmas.
Sia worked with her longtime producer Greg Kurstin on the new album, and the pair find impressive space for originality in a genre that operates within pretty narrow Mariah-margins — as Sia admitted to Zane Lowe in a recent interview, the traditions of holiday music are basically “mistletoe, ‘Ho Ho Ho,’ Santa Claus, Christmas lists, elves,” and variations thereof.
“I thought we had a bit of a shortage of good Christmas music. There’s obviously the classics and stuff, but anything new, I wasn’t vibing that much on it,” she told Lowe.

Everyday Is Christmas, the followup to 2016’s chart-topping This Is Acting, was “easy and fun. So, we did it in two weeks,” she recalled. “And I couldn’t stop writing new songs — so, I ended up with an original album by accident.”
Sia recently completed the North American leg of her headlining arena trek Nostalgic For The Present. Next up: a string of summer stadiums shows spanning Australia and New Zealand.
