Asteroid to Safely Pass Earth on Monday

Astronomy Enthusiasts Gear Up as Large Asteroid Set to Pass by Earth in 2024

Mark your calendars for April 15, 2024, as a large asteroid named 2013 NK4 is scheduled to make a close pass by Earth. With a diameter of about 2,000 feet, this asteroid is approximately twice as large as the famous Apophis asteroid.

Although the closest approach of the asteroid will be on April 15 at 14:51 UTC, astronomers recommend looking through a telescope on the nights of April 16 and 17 for a better view. Despite its size, the asteroid poses no threat as it follows a well-defined orbit.

NASA is planning to study the asteroid using radar antennas in California and Australia. Scientists are eager to acquire detailed images of the asteroid’s shape and size during this event.

This rare celestial event presents an exciting opportunity for astronomy enthusiasts to observe a large asteroid passing by Earth using small telescopes. Stay tuned for more updates as the date approaches, and make sure to mark your calendars for this once-in-a-lifetime event.
