Jon Bellion - The Definition

Tags: album song

It’s been a while since I last did a review of an Album. The album I will be reviewing today is Jon Bellion’s - The Definition. The review is a bit late considering the album came out on the 23rd of September. The reason for me taking time to put out a review is because I wanted to have time to read it and really get to see I the album was good or if it was one of those albums id listen to once; think its good but never really listen to after a week or so.

Before I go into much detail about the album, if you don’t know who Jon Bellion is, I would say go check him out as I think he a great artist as he makes pretty timeless songs. Jon Bellion is a 22 and lives in New York, America. He has released 2 albums before this and both of them have been free just like this one which can be found on his website; JonBellion.com.

There are so many albums we listen and we automatically pick out your favourites but after listening to the album. I wanted to make sure I had listened to the full album a number of times to see if I was going to end up getting bored of the album.

The album seems to be quite a reflection of his life showing that even though he does have money is currently living the life, he does face problems like the rest of us. He touches on different topics throughout his album from relationships, money, insecurities, thoughts whether he is living right and more.

After listening to the album, I have to say my favourite songs are either Carry Your Throne, Munny Right, Human and Pre-Occupied. Me choosing these songs doesn’t mean I do not like the rest of the songs but I had to go to my iTunes and see which songs I played more and to be hones the only song that had a big gap difference in listens was “Pre-Occupied ft. Blaque Keyz”.  The song had just over 20 plays more than the other songs.

So to go the album review, I really enjoyed listening to the album but the thing that I noticed is that I listened to the singles that were prepared for the album were good but after the album came out I really didn’t listen to them anymore. All the time when singles would play I would skip them with a few exceptions.

Even though the album was a pop type or album, every song seemed to be different which I thought was quite creative. In every song Jon seemed to try and produce a different type of sound. My favourite song production wise would have to be Carry Your Throne as it varied in the instruments that were used. The song had a full orchestra and I really liked how they were used to produce the final product.

As an album I would rate it at an 8/10 as I thought it was a really good album and I could really listen to it a lot of times but I thought for a good album it need to be consistently great. Even though there were a lot of good songs there were only 2 or 3 songs I would label 5 star song. Songs that I could give to anyone and whether they like pop or not they will like the songs. Other than that I would say you should download the free album and tae a look for yourself and see if you like the album.
