Oasis Member Pays To Get Out Of Legal Trouble

Former Oasis rocker Noel Gallagher is in trouble as the singer has been fined more than a thousand pounds for speeding.  However, he does not have a driver’s license.

Noel Gallagher fined

It has been noted that he was also docked six points as he was unable to identify the driver of the vehicle, as it was impossible for him to do so. He was caught driving at 65 kilometers per hour on a stretch of 48, on the A40 at Edgware Road, west London.

He was ordered to pay 742 pounds and a victim surcharge of 296 pounds , plus 100 pounds in costs, making a total of 1,138 pounds.

The Evening Standard newspaper reported that the incident occurred in October last year when the car was caught on a speeding camera,

Gallagher’s case was dealt with at Willesden Magistrates’ Court under the Single Justice Procedure, a chamber in which minor traffic offenses and TV licensing are dealt with. In fact, the former Oasis man only took one driving lesson in 1994.

“I had a driving lesson in the 1990s and I was driving through a housing estate in Slough and the instructor said, ‘If you just indicate and stop here’,” he recalled to Zoe Ball on Radio Four.

“She got out of the car and said, ‘I’ll be back in a minute,’ got out with her mother, took me to her house.

“Then the local integral bell rang and they all came out.

“This is at the height of Oasis-mania and I was like never.”

Reports suggest that initially that the culprit of the speeding offence was suspected Gallagher’s driver Alan Neeson.

“I am employed by Mr. Noel Gallagher as his personal driver and am also solely responsible for correspondence and other vehicle related matters,” Gallagher’s lawyer began in his defence.

“Although the vehicle involved in said offense is registered in Mr. Gallagher’s name, he does not have a driver’s license.

“The initial offense charge sheet was never received and the final reminder was not received until mid-January.

I believe the reason for this is that, as has been well stated, there was a postal strike before Christmas which I believe caused this delay.

“This, along with the Christmas publication, is the only logical explanation as to why this letter was received so late.”
