No, seriously. Where the heck did this year go? In the blink of an eye it’s almost 2022. But there’s one month left of 2021, and while it may have been a trash fire of a year for many reasons, it has brought us some very good games.

It still has a few more to give before the year’s up, too. Here’s our picks of the best games coming out this December. Get them on your Christmas list. If you’ve been good, you never know what Santa might bring you.

Solar Ash

  • 2nd December
  • PS4, PS5 and PC

Out today, Solar Ash is a fast-paced adventure about exploring an environment, taking down dark beings, and saving your dying civilisation. Chorus – not ‘Chorvs’ as the game logo may have you believe – is a space-faring adventure that puts you in control of Nara. Piloting her own space craft, she’s on a quest to track down and destroy a dark cult. It’s not going to be an easy journey though, and so she’ll have to unlock upgrades and evolve her craft along the way. Look out for our review of this soon.

Big Brain Academy: Brain vs Brain

The popular Big Brain Academy series is finally making its way to Nintendo Switch. Test your mental skills, and challenge friends to see who has the ‘brawniest brain’. You can challenge yourself in five areas: Identify, Memorize, Analyze, Compute and Visualize.

Danganronpa Decadence

Danganronpa Decadence brings the three mainline titles of the Danganronpa series to Switch, and it also includes a brand new entry to the series. Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp is a boardgame-style game featuring all your favourite characters from the series. If you’re a fan of Danganronpa, then, consider this a must-have.

Halo Infinite

Finally. Xbox’s biggest release of the year is almost upon us with Halo Infinite. It’s been a long wait after a sizeable delay, but we hope stepping back into Master Chief’s shoes will be worth the wait. It promises to be the biggest Halo yet, too, with a huge open world to explore. And if the last trailer is anything to go by, it looks phenomenal. Check in with us next week for a full review.

Monopoly Madness

A new spin is coming to the Monopoly franchise. Monopoly Madness isn’t so much about making your way around the classic board game. Instead, it’s about engaging in fast-paced races around the crazy streets of Monopoly City, all while Mr. Monopoly is away on holiday. If you’re a fan of the board game, it looks like great fun.

Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon

Shovel Knight is back! But his latest game is slightly different. Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon mashes together adventuring and puzzle solving in an action-packed title. Whether you’re a fan of Shovel Knight’s previous adventures or partial to something like a match-three puzzler, we think you’ll find something to love here. We can’t wait to try it out.

The Gunk

  • 16th December
  • Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC

The latest game from Thunderful has already caused quite a bit of a stire. The Gunk is about two friends who spent their days travelling through space hunting for scrap they can salvage and sell. But… landing on on particular planet, things don’t go quite as planned. It promises to be an exciting and colourful adventure.
