Shure has presented the MV7, a supposed successor of their Shure SM7B which has been available for many years and you can find it again in many studios despite (or because of?) its age- at least visually, the new Shure MV7 seems to come very close to its brother.

In fact, Shure states that the MV7 is “inspired by the legendary SM7B.” In contrast to the SM7B, the MV7 comes with a USB and Xlr Output, so that it can be connected to both a computer and an audio interface.

If the Microphone is connected via USB, you can use additional setting options and the Auto Level mode in the ShurePlus MOTIV app to adjust the sound of the voice or set the microphone distance.
In addition, the auto-level function is supposed to do almost all of the work of leveling – speakers and singers moving back and forth and the associated level jumps should be a thing of the past.

Another highlight is the so-called “Voice Isolation Technology” – this is what Shure calls the special construction with integrated shock mount.

The MV7 features a robust metal casing, windscreen, and built-in pole mount similar to the SM7B. Together with the model, the manufacturer supplies two cables for connection – USB-mini / USB, USB-mini / USB Type-C.

For many podcasters, Shure’s SM7B just may be the holy grail of microphones. Priced at $249 / £255 / €285, the new Shure MV7 is certainly a microphone to shout about and take a closer look at it in your local stores.
