“Things Of That Nature” is an inviting success of a single from Common Hours, the project of Portland-based artist Adam Black. Ethereal acoustics and wintry piano tones intermingle with beautiful impact alongside introspective lyrics, asking “do you hear me?” in what feels like a relationship’s potential breaking point. The questioning vocal beginnings admit “I’m not the one looking for reasons to go,” into the ghostly textural ambience upon the titular reference, carrying with a hypnotic, heartrending emotive folk entrancement throughout.
