Paul Dill – “Hum Like a Tram”

Tags: dill album vocals

A standout piece of songwriting from Berlin-based artist Paul Dill, “Hum Like a Tram” ventures from folk-forward beauty into a hypnotic synth-touched headiness. The first single from Dill’s debut album Courage is a course, out on June 7th, “Hum Like a Tram” is described as observing “the details in a long term relationship in a brutal and humorous way, but always with a positive twist.”

“If you bother one another, you have somebody,” Dill’s Vocals let out before an ascending captivation, where a bass-y throbbing and flourishing echo effect complement ethereal vocal layers. Twangy guitar adornments add gorgeously as the vocals fade, then re-emerging with tasteful cohesion — “I don’t lose my nerves… they all hum like a tram.” The final minute enthralls with its buzzing synth injections, sending warm invitations as the final vocal duet flourishes. “Hum Like a Tram” has us firmly anticipating the upcoming album from Paul Dill.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
