Elleodin – “Cadmus”

Guildford, UK-based Electronic artist Elleodin exhibits a compelling structural evolution on new single “Cadmus.” The largely instrumental production captivates in conveying attempts to “contain a maelstrom of destructive tendencies,” and the devastating result of giving into them. An evolving engrossment shows as haunting vocal understatements evolve into rhythmic and synth-laden expanses, deftly incorporating both dream-pop and industrial-forward darkness.

“Cadmus” begins with a tactful slow-burn, as subtle rhythmic click-clacking and effervescent synth escalation assemble with intrigue. Glistening synths drive into a moody bass line and ghostly, wordless vocals. An ensuing escalation stirs as pulsing rhythms take command; this percussion climactically guides into another vocal emergence at the track’s mid-point, continuing the haunting atmospheric immersion. The production excels in its balancing of dreamy pop with darker, grittier atmospheric undercurrents with post-punk and electronic fervency.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
