The sophomore Album from Sun Q, Myth is a dynamic success that spans from the bluesy, throwback rock of opener “Jane Doe” to the string-laden majesty of “Tree” and the climactic synth-forward build within “I Am the Sun.” Mystique-filled vocals permeate throughout, their eclectic tonal variety matching the instrumentation’s riveting diversity. Per the project, the release is “all about tapping into a power that exists beyond our five senses, bridging the gap between the subconscious and logic.” Heady, indeed, and certainly successful in that aim through its nine tracks.

Rock, psych-pop, and electronic pursuits successfully meld with standout instrumentation — sometimes coming via special instruments, like the legendary Juno-106, various guitars from different eras, and Obscure Soviet synthesizers. Variety is the spice of life within the stylistic range and recording process alike; the latter saw the involvement of choirs from Russia, the USA, and Uganda, while the cover art was created in Brazil. The spacious lushness of “Still Searching for the Skulls” and the rock/synth-pop intertwining within “Children Singing” are additional highlights on this riveting album from Sun Q.
