The Bondurants – ‘Take The Night Away’ EP

Leeds-based quintet The Bondurants conjure an accessible brand of ’80s-inspired rock, also showcasing country roots in its heartfelt hooks. Their new EP, Take The Night Away, engages right away with title track opener. “Don’t take the night away from us,” the chorus rings out, dazzling amidst twangy guitars and colorful charisma. The more muted “spread our wings,” build shows a momentary lushness, traversing into the rousing chorus’ reprisal. The opener kicks the EP into gear with enthusiastic, melodic charm.

Featuring fantastic production from David Watts (Kaiser Chiefs, Richard Hawley), the EP echoes a sort of timeless-sounding rock/pop enamoring. “When We Were Young” is further indication, beckoning a nostalgia in its namesake and tender Guitar Tones, supporting another vibrant central hook. A rousing closer, “Call Me Again” also achieves seamless immersion. This one is more embracing of country-influenced guitar tones, which excellently accompany the charismatic vocals and structural variety. Take The Night Away is a stirring EP from The Bondurants.
