Luke Sweeney – “Natural Force”

Suave, nocturnal synths and a confident rhythmic groove kickstart the alluring “Natural Force,” a new track from Bay Area artist Luke Sweeney. The dazzling synths and bass line join alongside assured vocals, building to the “you are natural force,” hook succeeding alongside jangly guitar additions and escalated vocals. The spacey bridge — “of all the scientists and masters of professions,” — also hits it out of the park, traversing seamlessly back into the verses. “Natural Force” is a stylish synth-pop success from Luke Sweeney.

“Natural Force” is the first single from Sweeney’s upcoming EP, Critique of Nature, also releasing via a limited run of cassette tapes this month.

Sweeney explains more about the track:

“Like the title suggests, the song came together in a way that is tough to explain by conventional means. It was past dusk and I was beat… but somewhere along the way we struck a chord. Fortunately, there was already a fresh, clean musical bed of suggestive rhythms waiting for us when we checked out… In the mood, I immediately laid some lyrics and melody upon it. Then we woke up in a tangle of guitar strums and realized we were in love.”

“Natural Force” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of March 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Electro-Pop.
