Premiering with us today is the excellent new track “Games”, a slice of synth-pop magic from Austin, TX duo FM / PM. Michael Perkins’ melodic Vocals combine with Silas Acosta’s instrumental work for a striking soundscape, Perkins’ vocals assuming a jerkier, infectious tinge of funk during the central hook (akin to Hot Chip) as Acosta’s gentle synth work washes over with lush precision, reminding of Junior Boys in feel. Atmospheric verses and a contagious vocal presence in the hook result in a song that’s captivating through-and-through. The duo will be releasing their debut EP this Friday, with both songs on the EP mixed by Trevor Dowdy (Quiet Company).
