#30thAnniversary – M.O.P. “To The Death”

There’s not another group in the Hip Hop game that makes you wanna start a mosh pit like M.O.P. The hardcore lyrics delivered with powerful voices over rugged beats makes the Mash Out Posse instantly recognizable. Billy Danze and Lil’ Fame are the epitome of hardcore Hip Hop, and tracks like “Rugged Neva Smoove” and “How About Some Hardcore” are proof of that. You won’t find a classic like “Ante Up” on this debut album, but the solid boom bap production from DR Period combined with the gangster bravado of the Brownsville duo is enough to make “To The Death” one of the great Hip Hop LPs of 1994.

You will find the album, but also the videos, remixes & b-side (including production from the legendary DJ Premier) and an interview below in a playlist. You can also dig in the samples on www.whosampled.com.
