#30thAnniversary – Wu-Tang Clan “Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)”

Honestly, what else can be said about the creation of this album, one of the biggest game changers in Hip Hop history. You can find countless reviews, tons of interviews (we got a lot of them compiled in a playlist below, or watch this new one by RZA on “Ebro in the Morning”), numerous books and even a three season TV series available, if you have the appetite to go deeper into how this project came about. But in case you have been living under a rock, the Wu-Tang Clan consist of nine incredible emcees who all got their own distinctive style, RZA, GZA (check his first album “Words From The Genius“), Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, and Ol’ Dirty Bastard. One of them, The RZA, revolutionized how to flip soul samples to create a menacing gritty backdrop, influencing the sound of Hip Hop forever. Add a couple of audio clips taken from old Kung Fu flicks they adored growing up and the slang influenced by these movies, and you got an historic magnum opus as a result. Every track is legendary, every verse is memorable, every beat is revolutionary. This is the 36 chambers, bring da mutha******* ruckus!

What you have down here is everything we could find on the web related to this album from that era. All the videos, a couple of different versions of the classic track “Method Man” and tons of live performances and interviews to really grasp the energy of the clan at the time. You can also dig in the samples on www.whosampled.com.
