After a long hiatus, Recycled Funk is back in action. A lot has gone down since the last episode of R.F. was cultivated. Not just for me or you but the world in general. So many different things/subjects that I could throw out there but that’s not what I’m here on brooklynradio.com for. It’s for the music and using it as an uplifting force that can be appreciated by one and all anywhere in this world. So….question, do you know how many incredible songs have the word “summer” in their title? Quite a few! But “summer” is far from just a word in a title. It’s a feeling, a vibe, a time of year, something that people look forward to…especially if you live in a seasonal weather part of the world. In my lifetime I don’t think there’s ever been a summer more anticipated than the one upon us here in 2021, and for reasons no one could really foresee. The summertime is everything for us NY’kers, and the weather is just part of the infatuation & admiration. And no summer would be complete without a stellar soundtrack, and that’s where I come in. But I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t put a little spin on things. So back to my initial question, songs with “summer” in the title. Hopefully you got the hint and have already figured out that this mix is exactly that, a compilation of songs that share that commonality. And because there’s such an extensive list of these songs, it’s only right that I turn it into a series. So…for your listening pleasure (and mine) I present to you “Summertime” volume one.
