Irish 4-piece The Academic have shared the final single to be taken from their highly anticipated forthcoming album and EMI debut Sitting Pretty, released 10th February 2023. With their signature aspirant energy and fluttering melodies comes another snappy, pristinely polished pop song that begs to be played again and again. “My Very Best is a song about coming up short. We wanted to write something that could encapsulate the heavy heartedness and cruelty of feeling like you can’t emotionally provide a relationship with what it needs to survive.” The band continue, “The song explores the inner turmoil and feelings of inadequacy this realisation can bring.” Take a listen for yourselves below.
