Top IMDb Films to Watch on Netflix India

So you have a Netflix subscription, and are browsing endlessly through the titles, but don’t know what to watch? Well, How about looking for some highly rated films from IMDb top 250 chart? But which of these are there? Well, I may help a little with that.

Here is a list of some top movies which are there on Netflix, and feature in the IMDb top 250 chart.

The Godfather: Well, if you haven’t watched The Godfather yet, I think that’s a good place to begin. In fact it’s streaming on both Netflix and Amazon Prime. One of the most popular and critically acclaimed film based on Mario Puzo’s bestselling novel of the same name, it’s something everyone loves to watch.

The Dark Knight: That’s the second in the series of Christopher Nolan’s Batman Trilogy, the first being Batman Begins, so if you haven’t seen them, it’s actually two movies to watch (or three, if you are watching The Dark Knight Rises too). But as the name says, in the first movie, Batman Begins. It’s the second film with the Joker, which is the best of the trilogy. Per IMDb, and personally for me as well.

Schindler’s List: There are quite a few films made on second world war. But there aren’t many which show the holocaust so openly. This Academy Award winning 1993 film in Black and White is something that moves you as you watch it. The film is based on a 1982 novel Schindler’s Ark by Thomas Keneally.

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy: The LOTR trilogy, based on the novel The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien, is one of the best set of high fantasy adventure films. While all three films of the trilogy feature in the top 15 of the IMDb top list, the last one, Return of the King, is mostly the best rated of the lot. The film was also nominated for eleven categories in the Academy Awards, and won the award in all of them.

Forrest Gump: Another film which won multiple Academy Awards — 6 out of 13 nominations. The film is about a low IQ person, who is good natured and kind hearted, and who is able to influence some of the important events in the United States in his lifetime.

Inception: Dream inside dream inside dream. Or something like that. Inception is one of the complex films made by Christopher Nolan, a sci-fi where it’s difficult to separate dreams from reality. The film released in 2010, between The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, and won four Academy Awards.

The Matrix: Another Sci-fi film, this one with quite a bit of Action, in which we deal with a game instead of a dream. I’d not want to say anything about the plot, but I can tell you that the action in the film is interesting, and the visual effects, which also won the film one of its four academy awards, beating a Star Wars movie, were certainly something new at the time.

Se7en: or Seven, as it’s called, is a crime thriller, in which two detectives work together to catch a serial killer who uses seven deadly sins as his motif in his murders.

That’s ten films from the Top twenty-five of the IMDb top 250, which are available on Netflix India. So what are you waiting for? Start watching them now, because as Netflix is increasing its programs, some of the films leave the site too, like The Shawshank Redemption and Pulp Fiction, which would have made to this list a few months ago, but are no more there on Netflix at the moment.
