NEN’s Festival Essentials: All Points East 2019

We’ve picked the acts you’d be foolish to miss at this years All Points East.

After a successful inaugural event last year, All Points East 2019 is fast approaching, so we’ve scoured the line-up for the acts that should be on your radar. From the euphoric and dreamy Beach House to punk trio Dream Wife, the festival is showcasing some of the top new music talent across two weekends in Victoria Park.

Don’t forget to check out our Spotify playlist below!

Primal Scream – Friday 24 May

First of our top picks are infamous Scottish rock band Primal Scream and they need no introduction. Bringing their mesmerising sounds and iconic musical stylings, we cannot wait to see them take to the stage on 24 May to play the likes ‘Come Together’, ‘Loaded’ and more.

Temples – Saturday 25 May

Psych rockers Temples have toured with the likes of The Vaccines, Kasabian and Suede, and their appearance at All Points East will prove they’ve got some big boots to fill. If their last album is anything to go by, the Kettering trio are definitely one you cannot miss.

Zuzu – Saturday 1 June

Liverpool born Zuzu will take to the JagerHaus stage at All Points East with her sweet intoxicating vocals and rich guitar sounds. Having supported the likes of SWMRS and The Courteeners, Zuzu is no stranger to live performances; it will be a shame if you miss her set at All Points East.

Dream Wife – Saturday 25 May

Dream Wife are one of our all time favourites and it’d be ludicrous to not mention them as one to see over the All Points East festival weekend. This pop punk trio will be enforcing their girl gang dream pop stylings, and we’re excited to see what they bring to the festivities.

Demob Happy – Saturday 25 May

Having just supported Jack White on his UK tour at the end of last year, Demob Happy are taking 2019 by storm. If their latest single ‘Less Is More’ is anything to go by, this alternative rock band will be dominating the festival weekend with their addictive, grunge rock musings.

Cassia – Saturday 1 June

Hot off the release of their debut album ‘Replica’, Cassia have put their stamp on the indie music scene and their  appearances already at festivals across the UK this season have proves they’re making a name for themselves. Their music transports you to jangly summer euphoria and no matter what the weather, they’ll have us feeling like the sun’s shining down upon our festival weary faces.

Valeras – Saturday 25 May

With the release of their latest single ‘Your Honey’, Valeras have set the bar high for what we can expect from them at the Firestone stage. The Reading based five piece are known for their classic indie rock melodies with a soft twist in singer Rose Yammer’s vocals; we’re hoping they bring all the energy here and all summer long.

Beach House – Sunday 26 May

All Points East will be transported to a dreamy pop euphoria when Beach House take to the stage. With seven albums under their belts, Beach House have hell of a lot of material to play during their set. Fingers crossed they play some of our favourites!

Sam Fender – Saturday 1 June

If you haven’t heard of Sam Fender, where have you been? The Geordie singer-songwriter has been on our radar for a while, and we cannot get enough of his anthemic brand of bluesy rock. With the announcement of his debut album ‘Hypersonic Missiles’ and his biggest headline UK tour to date, Sam Fender is set for major success this year – you’d be a fool not to see him.

Babeheaven – Sunday 2 June

We reckon London based dream pop band Babeheaven are going to pack a set full of punchy synths, soothing vocals and soft melodies and boy are you in for a treat!

Leon Bridges – Saturday 1 June

The Grammy Award winner Leon Bridges is best known for his R&B soul melodies, and with tour support for The Rolling Stones and Harry Styles under his belt, we are seriously looking forward to hear the likes of ‘Beyond’ and ‘Bad Bad News’ in live form.

The Vaccines – Saturday 1 June

Infamous amongst the indie rock music scene with their latest album ‘Combat Sports’ success and support slots with the likes of Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, The Stone Roses and more, we are highly anticipating their set The Vaccines set in one of the tops slots this festival season.

The Collier – Sunday 2 June

Having seen them play before at Notting Hill Arts Club, we know The Collier will dominate the Firestone stage at All Points East. Delivering heavy rock riffs, gut-wrenching melodies and hypnotic drum patterns, you’re in for one hell of a show.

Mac DeMarco – Sunday 2 June

Multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and producer, there’s very little Mac DeMarco can’t do. With a bluesy jazz music style, All Points East will be very lucky to witness his sounds and melodies first hand during the festivities and there’s no doubt we’ll be there for it.

Bon Iver – Sunday 2 June

If you’re at All Points East on the Sunday and you’re not lovingly crooning into a warm pint of cider while watching Bon Iver, then why are you even here? With two Grammy’s and the likes of Glastonbury and Coachella under his belt, All Points East is just another conquering slot for Justin Vernon and co, and what better way to finish up two weekends of festivities than with an eclectic mix of folk, glitching electronics, heart-wrenching ballads and a whole heap of saxophone (fingers crossed)?

In case you missed it…

Even more acts have been added to All Points East! HEALTH, Crow, Sinead O Brien, Flamingods, Anchorsong and 8 Bit Society have all been revealed to play the JagerHaus Stage at this years festival, appearing alongside the likes of Gruff Rhys, stage headliners Gold Panda and reggae royalty Hollie Cook.
