What an psychedelic charge work ‘Mannequins’ is, Keeping us guessing until after the 30-second mark because only then does the full extent of its intentions become clear. There are exotic far eastern touches, sitar derived too and it is in keeping with the general mantra wielding efforts that nonetheless have a clear folk mandate and against the odds ‘Mannequins’ turns out all singalong. Well at various stages anyway and outside of the metamorphosis that happens periodically. Leon Iii (Texas crew consisting of Andy Stepanian and Mason Brent) really give us plenty to chew over, subtly packing in an aural feast in under 4 minutes. Quite beautiful creation. KH
