Yo Kinky – Resistance

There is a vibrancy here, something that had me thinking post-Blondie but the attitude is still present as is Yo Kinky’s preference for zig-zagging their way through a Song that seems to be in a constant state of evolution. What grounds all of that though is the strength of the core elements, namely a singer (Laura Wight) with a vibrant personality and the chiming chords and cavalcade of riffs (Tom Unish) to fill in the non-vocal parts. There’s almost a Celtic mysticism too and for that and much more besides we were completely under this New York duo’s spell. KH
