Ghana’s own underground music scene in the capital’s skateparks and surf clubs

A recently launched docu-series from New Era has brought to light the growing underground music scene in Ghana. The first episode follows the DIY club culture in Accra, with future episodes to cover other musical communities across the world and spotlight the creatives making things happen.

Surf Ghana has become the home of an alternative Music scene, alongside Vibrate Space, and Freedom Skatepark – other institutions all set up by Sandy Alibo. Surfers, skaters, artists, DJs and musicians among other creatives are coming together to create and grow in these community hubs.

The future of Underground Music is flourishing in these spaces and linking Ghana to the wider global community through series like New Era, bringing diverse talent to the forefront of electronic music.
