Clara Benin | I Rose Up Slowly

One non-negotiable thing about this 2019 list is that – Clara Benin will always have a special place in this space. Out of all those heavenly vulnerable tunes she dished out off the five-piece I Rose Up Slowly EP, I’m particularly bent over this one, next to Wrestle (separate feature), very fitting for my current state as of writing.

The haunting “I Rose up slowly”, as I would always want to describe it, is the closest bridge of a song to how it is to fight by surrendering – acknowledging the fact for a need of help, how it is to give in for a good fall in exchange for an even higher bounce back no matter how long it takes and how slow the progress is. Because there were and will be times when we actually reach that point where the next step would be uncertain and it’s a daunting task to keep things together and most mess back in control. It’s when we actually need another hand to hold or just a hand that will show the simplest of gestures to cheer us up. Just glad I have found those exact hands just in time when I needed them last year.

So, this song rose in this list as my way of saying thanks to all those friends who were unknowingly there when I had such days. Cheers to everyone looking out and taking time to check out one another.
