An immensely valuable document of Australian music history has been discovered and released by Vicious Kitten Records in the release of Hitmen D.T.K. Tonight We Ride!
The Hitmen had a colourful history and helped build the early punk scene. In 1984 a new line-up of the band came together to tour and later record and release the Tora Tora DTK live album. (Had a copy. – Ed.) Another line-up followed, formed under the name Hitmen DTK. A show at the Toucan Tango, a small club in Newtown, Sydney followed with legendary Radio Birdman guitarist Deniz Tek. To mark the significance of the occasion, a recording of the show was made. 13 November 1991. And then, in the way of all valuable things, the recording sat in a box for more than three decades.

As Vicious Kitten aptly put it in the liner notes. Lightning was caught in a bottle. In a world where everything is filmed or photographed and then deleted, finds like these are all the more precious. Especially, when they capture musicians at their prime. Hitmen D.T.K. were always an amazing experience live and Tonight We Ride! is a testament to that. I, for one, thank Vicious Kitten.
