Bringing Good Vibes From Norway, Meet DARI!

What first drew you into music?

At the age of 15 I got my very first Sony Walkman and could finally burn mp3 CDs and listen to Music for hours everywhere I had to go.

We’ll have to go back roughly 7-8 years to the time when SHF (Swedish House Mafia) and Avicii started making it big to find the root for my interest in electronic music. I’ve always been into that kind of music at some level, but at that point EDM became my main point of interest when it comes to music and has been ever since.

I watched some videos of Tim in the studio going through his tracks and I started to think that this is something I would like to do as well, so that’s how I got into producing. I’ve always loved to be creative, so this is just another way to express that through my music.

You are one of the best up and coming musicians we have encountered on the internet! And your track “Oh Baby” is probably your best track yet! Could you tell us more about the story behind this track?

Wow, thank you! First time I’ve heard that since I started making my own tracks. The story behind the track isn’t really that exciting. I just happened to come across that vocal and instantly got some ideas of what I wanted to do with it. As I have been really into the tropical styles of Kygo and Matoma lately I ended up making some relaxed tropical stuff with it.

Going over your Soundcloud we can tell you love experimenting with new sounds. Can you tell us more about your studio setup and some of your favorite plugins/instruments?

My Setup is pretty much like many other home producers, 1 laptop with Ableton, a pair of Eris studio monitors, Scarlett sound interface, v-moda reference headphones and a Alesis midi keyboard. For plugins I always end up going to Nexus, Korg M1 or Serum, some might say its generic or what not, but you can’t really argue against the sounds and cool things you can do with those plugins at all!

Your signature sound is already very professional and amazing to listen to! How did you manage to achieve such a professional sound in such a short time? Can you tell us more about your musical background?

I first started playing around with music production roughly 7 years ago, back when I was studying engineering. I started getting a little hang of it back then but suddenly my computer completely crashed, and I lost all of software, sounds, productions and so on.

So, at that point I basically quit producing, until September 2018, I just made my decision to get back in and simply never stop again.

As for my professional sound in short time, well. It consists of a massive number of hours on YouTube, listening to other artists and trying to use that as inspiration and help in order to try and create my own sound. I have lost count on how many hours I have used trying to learn basic chord scales and music theory at this point to be honest, haha.

Basically, everything you can listen to on my channels now I have learned the past year.

All your tracks are very melodic. Do you play any real-life instruments?

Sorry to disappoint but I don’t play any instrument. I try to teach myself some piano when I have time though, that’s the first instrument I would really like to learn properly.

What are your goals for the coming months? Any upcoming projects we can get excited about?

Currently I’m working on my very first official remix for a Danish pop group which will be released in roughly 3-4 weeks, date is not set in stone yet.

And I got a few original single projects of my own that’s not finished yet, some of them a little more upbeat than recent ones but I’m not saying more than that, hehe.

As a personal goal, new year’s resolution maybe, I would love to release an EP sometime during 2020 but we’ll see about that and get myself and home DJ setup so I can’t start making mixes.

Also, I will be releasing a tropical collaboration I finished together with a friend this week soon.
