What first drew you into EDM music production?

We are two people with different backgrounds when it comes to Music and music production. Marcus Danning (Producer and songwriter) started making a lot of different playlists on Spotify. When he found new music, the ideas began to pop up and he dreamt about being able to make music for himself. Three years ago he bought FL Studio and started experimenting ever since. Kristoffer Hauge (Composer, songwriter and vocalist) always thought that music was a magical thing. When he first saw Harry Potter on film he wanted to be a wizard as well. Making music was the closest he could get. You could say that Hauge is now a wizard and his magic is now raw vocals and catchy melodies.

Your latest track “talking loud” is one of the best melodic trap tracks we have ever heard! Could you tell us more about the story behind this track and how it came together?

It first started when we met in the Royal Norwegian Navy. We work in the same position and we found out pretty soon that we both made music. With Hauge´s background in Blues and rock from his band and Danning´s background from EDM music, we thought we could make something special and unique. It only took one day in the studio to finish the “blueprint” of the song and all the vocals and guitars are one-time recorded. We knew from the first hours together in the studio that the creativity between us was never ending and the song was finished after 6 working days in the studio.

Coming from Norway do you have any favorite clubbing spots?

We are from two different places in Norway, but for the time being, we are both stationed in Bergen because of our duty. Our favorite clubbing spot here in Bergen must be Heidi´s bier bar. But we also like the more mellow vibe places like Garage bar in Bergen.

How it like working together, do you have any specific roles in the studio?

Marcus Danning is the producer. He is responsible for the electronic sounds, mixing and mastering. He is also writing lyrics. Kristoffer Hauge is the voice, the composer, songwriter and guitarist. He often comes up with nice guitar melodies that we build our song around. We also learn from each other so we can be able to switch roles, come up with other ideas and being more creative, which is our main goal.

2017 has just passed, how would you summarize 2017? Did it turn out the way you expected it to?

A lot of good Things Happened in 2017. New things happened, like starting this duo, working together opened up many doors for us musically. We are both doing something we have never done or heard before. Little did we know that the Navy would bring us together so we could make this track. None of us expected this but we are of course glad that it happened and we are excited about where it will take us.

What are your goals for the new year? Any upcoming projects we can get excited about?

Our goal for the new year is to grow as musicians and producers. We will definitely produce more music in the future and learn more about our musical knowledge so we can experience more. We are currently working on a new track together which is going great. We will experiment further but we want to keep the “Talking Loud” style so that the genre will be our signature. We want people to hear a new song from us and think: “yes, this must be Black On Fuel!”
