Free, creative and wild collective improvisations are full of different musical expressions, various moods and characters which are opposites to each other. Ken Vandermark reeds improvisations make an effort to most part of the compositions and to whole sound – very energetic, vivacious, aggressive, rigorouos, sharp and provocative solos bring dynamic, rapid and very active sound to the compositions. He try out many different playing techniques – most of them aren’t traditional ones, but innovative and shocking ways of playing. Along with very expressive and especially passionate Ken Vandermark improvisations there’s also gently fits together Nate Wooley trumpet which sound also is very bright, energetic, full of wild fast solos and unpredictable stylistic waves. Tim Daisy drums improvisations are full of different types of rhythmic formulas and rhythms – afroamerican, European and American music rhythms are dynamically changing each other. Very speedy and rapid, slow and monotonic, constantly changing and full of unpredictable and weird timbres – all these elements are mixed together in Tim Daisy improvisations. Jasper Studhouders electric bass bring experimental and Electronic Music elements to the compositions. His improvisations are mostly effective in subtle and calm episodes – various unusual timbres, weird sounds, special electronic effects, voice elements and other elements which are main elements in electronic music are blended together in one composition. C.Spencer Yeh violin, electronics and voice improvisations give very specific and extraordinary effect to this album – there are some compositions which are more similar to experimental or electronic music compositions. Christoff Kurtzmann electronic music sounds and timbres also create original and interesting background of these improvisations. This album varies between electronic music and avant-garde jazz.
