We have a Birthday room on the Line App for the Smule Sing! eNeRGy  group. Every member gets their own birthday song.

How Does the Birthday Room Work?

When a new member joins, they give Joan (JoaNRG), one of our leaders, the date of their birthday. When that date draws near she removes them from the room temporarily. Then we get together to sing a group song to celebrate.

 A Birthday Song for Joan

This week it was Joan’s birthday. Because she manages the birthday room, she is the one who knows when a birthday is coming up. So, I was completely oblivious, until the day before, when she told us all she was going to celebrate at Disney California Adventure Park. Luckily, Anna (NRG_astonelake) was a little more with it.  She gathered us together in a new chat room within the Smule App.

One of the things you need to know about Joan is that she is a massive Star Wars fan. Joan was at the first screening possible of the new movie, Rogue One.  We’ve seen her dressed up as a Stormtrooper (see cover of the song below) for fancy dress. She even sent us a photo of Stormtroopers from the Disney park that day.

With that in mind, Anna found a great Star Wars themed parody of Let it Go from Frozen on Smule. So, that’s what we sang together for Joan. It was a lot of fun to record, there’s actually a bit of giggling on the recording! It turned out to be a big hit with the lovely Joan. So, from all of us at #NRG,  happy birthday to you Joan and thanks for all your enthusiasm as a leader of the group.
